Daikin Streamer technology 99.9% effective at inactivating SARS-CoV-2
Daikin’s patented Air Purifier Streamer technology filters harmful particles leaving indoor air clean and healthy. Originally developed by Daikin in 2004, it has now been found to be more than 99.9% effective at inactivating Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
A research team used the Daikin Flash Streamer technology to irradiate the SARS-CoV-2 virus. After 1 hour the virus was inactivated 93.65%, and after 3 hours 99.97%. The technology performs an oxidative decomposition of harmful substances, using a type of plasma discharge featuring an innovative air purification technology.
The study was conducted by Daikin Industries Ltd in cooperation with Professor Shigeru Kyuwa from the Department of Biomedical Science of the University of Tokyo, and a group of research led by Professor Shigeru Morikawa from the Department of Microbiology of the Okayama University of Science.
Daikin’s air purifiers filter dust, pollen, odours and pet hair and are approved by Allergy UK.
